    Theraplay Level Two Training

The Three Swans Hotel Market Harborough, Leicestershire

Unlike other play group approaches, Theraplay learning takes place on a non-verbal level. Instead of talking about positive social behaviour, the group leaders and children EXPERIENCE positive social interaction. Gradually, positive messages from the groups become a part of the child’s internal sense of himself.
The Theraplay approach can very quickly and dramatically improve the quality of the classroom or other group setting and provide teachers, counselors and therapists with resources to maintain an emotionally positive and cognitively enriched environment.

    MASTERCLASS: Reflective Video Feedback (RVF)

    Online

Parental mentalizing is a skill that means understanding what goes on in the child’s mind, what the child is thinking and feeling. Without mentalizing, a parent can’t be sensitive and attuned and guide and structure the child in everyday hassles.

Video feedback has been used already for many years to help parents to improve in sensitive interaction, limit-setting/structuring and nurturing behaviors. In the MIM assessment, parent-child dyad completes a set of playful activities revealing their dyadic emotional interaction pattern (assessed qualitatively or using quantitative DEIS scales).

The learning objectives of the day training are:
Helping parents to reflect – and why they need help
    Videos make interaction ‘transparent’
Practicing reflective skills and following a guideline
How to work with ‘difficult’ parents?

Sensory Attachment Intervention Foundation Module (PART ONE)

    Online

This three-day course will look at the theories that provide the framework for SAI. Emphasis will be on the impact of trauma on sensory processing, and on the capacity for self and co-regulation. Participants will learn the neurosequential approach to intervention; that is, when it is most effective to use interventions such as narrative work, play therapy, and education. They will learn the principles of up-regulation and down-regulation to enable physiological adaptation for social engagement and academic learning.

The foundation module is taught in two parts, Part 1 and Part 2. Each part is also a stand-alone course and can be done in any order.
Both parts have to be completed before proceeding on the training pathway and attending other SAI courses.

Supporting developmentally traumatized children & adolescents

The Three Swans Hotel Market Harborough, Leicestershire

Developmental trauma describes trauma from within early relationships that impacts on the child’s development, emotional wellbeing, sense of identity and experience of relationships.
Early experiences such as separation, loss, hospitalization, parental illness and inadequate parenting are likely to leave their mark. Children and young people traumatised within their early caregiving environments are highly vulnerable with an increased risk of lifelong behavioural, mental health and relationship difficulties.

This seminar provides an exploration of developmental trauma and its impact on the development of children and young people. We will consider how we can support these young people, with a particular emphasis on providing safe, open and engaged relationships that can rebuild security and trust.
